GARNETT — Rain isn’t necessarily a good thing, especially if you have to maintain Anderson County roads and Garnett streets. The Anderson County Review reported that June rainfall is way above normal. Michelle Miller, county engineering department, said the heavy rains have been rough on county roads that were already damaged by winter snowstorms. The county roads crews need a dry spell to catch up, she said. Garnett city manager Joyce Martin said the city has been better off but has seen some drainage problems. City workers had to repair a water line and fill a sinkhole near First and Cleveland streets, she said. The storms knocked down a few tree limbs, she said.
