GARNETT — Anderson County commissioners will interview three finalists for the county engineer’s position. County Clerk Phyllis Gettler told the Anderson County Review that the county received 15 applications for the position. She said half of the applicants have an engineering background and the other half specializes in public works administration. The three finalists are engineers, she said. The county is filling the position that was vacated when county engineer Donna Schmit resigned in May, citing a desire to take a part-time, work-from-home position in order to have more family time. The engineer is responsible for maintaining roads and bridges in the county, as well as administering federal and state grants and projects, among other duties as needed.
