WILLIAMSBURG — A man who tried to outrun officers from Douglas and Franklin county early this morning at speeds of more than 90 miles an hour gave up the race along I-35 near Williamsburg. Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Curry said Lawrence police tried to pull over someone they thought was impaired when the car took off. That set off a pursuit in which the car raced through Lawrence and south along U.S. 59 until the driver turned on I-35, he said. Lawrence police gave the man a trip back to Lawrence, he said. Lawrence police said they arrested a 20-year-old man from Fort Scott in connection with the chase.
