OTTAWA — Ottawa city commissioners spoke sign language at their meeting Monday. They’ve been pressing the Kansas Department of Transportation about signs on the new U.S. 59 highway pointing out old Ottawa. City manager Richard Nienstedt said city staffers met with KDOT last week. The city wants to be sure it’s clear to motorists that Ottawa is just off the new expressway, he said. As far as earlier agreements, KDOT has fulfilled what was expected, he said.
