GARNETT — The city of Garnett says it’s not too late to think about the summer heat. The city also says it’s not too late to think about what to do about it. City manager Joyce Martin told the Anderson County Review that some parts of the city’s electrical system are old and can’t handle the demands that result from high heat. Hot summer days sometimes lead to blackouts and brownouts as the city’s electrical system is overwhelmed by higher demand. She asked that residents do what they can to conserve electricity during the hottest parts of the day. For example, you can do laundry in the morning or evening when the weather is cooler and demand is not as high.
