TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Transportation has awarded 85 contracts for road projects across the state. In Franklin County, Killough Construction of Ottawa will receive a $628,000 contract to mill and resurface nearly two miles of K-68 from Poplar Sreet to the junction of I-35 in Ottawa. In Osage County, Winding Road Construction, Big Fork, Minn., will receive a $193,000 contract to patch about two miles of U.S. 75 north from 10th Street in Lyndon. The projects had been on hold as a result of budget cuts but KDOT said the projects got the go-ahead after legislators approved a new budget that included a one-cent sales tax increase and other transportation fee increases.
