BUCYRUS — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued an emergency order closing a licensed family day care home in Miami County. The state suspended the Shirley Joyce McClellan Day Care Home, Bucyrus, this morning. The KDHE said state law allows closures when they’re necessary to protect children in the homes from any potential threat to health or safety. The KDHE’s announcement didn’t say why the home was closed.
