MANHATTAN — Kansas State University has received a National Institute of Food and Agriculture grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. K-State will receive $660,000 over five years to conduct nutrition education programs to show youths how to reduce their consumption of unhealthy and junk foods and get off couch or away from video games. Institute director Roger Beachy said he hopes the grants, which went to eight land-grant universities nationwide, will improve health and reduce abuse, crime, teen pregnancy and poor performance in school.
