OSAWATOMIE — Two national experts on re-enacting historical figures will begin with free workshops in Osawatomie beginning this morning at Osawatomie First Presbyterian Church. Joyce Thierer, who portrays Calamity Jane; and Ann Birney, who portrays Amelia Earhart; will show children and adults how to perform as historical figures. A workshop for kids in grades four through eight will be 10 to five beginning today through Thursday and Friday afternoon from 1 to 7:30. A workshop for high school students and adults will be Saturday from 9 to 7 and Sunday from 11 to 7:30. They’ll get a chance to show their stuff Sunday evening at 5:30 at the church. They’ll also get a chance to perform at the Freedom Festival on Sept. 19 and Talking Tombstones on Oct. 30.
