WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Rural Fire Department will receive a nearly $10,000 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant from the Kansas Forest Service. Franklin Township trustee Eldon Radda said the grant will help the department buy needed equipment that it couldn’t otherwise afford. Wellsville Fire Chief Robert Thomas said the grant will be used to buy a new pump and a skid unit to be used at grass fires, uncontrolled burns and other emergencies. The Wellsville department covers northeastern Franklin and northwestern Miami counties.
