OTTAWA — As of this morning, the Ottawa police have not yet released the name of the woman who was found Monday morning in the Marais des Cygnes River. Ottawa Police Chief Dennis Butler said an elderly woman who lived on South Cedar Street was reported missing at about the same time police received a report of a woman in the river. Ottawa police, firefighters and a water rescue team from Lincoln-Ottawa-Harrison Rural Fire Department searched the river. The body was found near the wastewater treatment plant. Although he hasn’t identified the body, Butler said the search for the missing woman has ended. An autopsy was planned in hopes of finding the cause of death, he said.
