OTTAWA — Paul Duane Nicholson, 24, Ottawa was stabbed to death Wednesday night. Nicholson’s stabbing occurred at a home in the 200 block of South Locust, Ottawa Police Chief Dennis Butler said. Nicholson collapsed in a neighbor’s yard where Ottawa police and Franklin County EMS tried to save him. Butler said police have interviewed several witnesses. As of midnight, police had not arrested anyone. Family members were notified of Nicholson’s death when they arrived at the scene. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are helping with the investigation, he said. This is the first homicide in Ottawa this year.
