KANSAS CITY — The Kansas City office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ordered a St. Joseph, Mo., chemical company to stop selling the weedkiller Warthog 2 EC. Several farmers near Beattie in northeast Kansas reported a batch of the herbicide damaged 8,000 acres of soybeans. The EPA ordered HPI Products to stop selling the chemical and the manufacturer in Mississippi to stop distributing it after EPA inspectors found that the Warthog 2 batch had been tainted with other herbicides. The EPA has urged the manufacturer to consider a recall of all of the herbicide.
