PAOLA – Four hundred needy Miami County students will receive backpacks filled with school supplies. A fundraising drive by social agencies received $3,000 to buy backpacks and the school supplies. Osawatomie school Supt. Gary French told the Osawatomie Journal that the drive went so well that more backpacks will be distributed than originally planned. Most backpacks will go to elementary-school students in each school district and two private schools in Miami County.
