OTTAWA — With the onset of 100-degree weather, the Ottawa power plant has gotten close to the 2007 record for one-day electrical use of 39.9 megawatts but not quite. City utility director Jim Bradley said this week’s daily use was close to the record – 38.7 megawatts. The city probably won’t break the record until schools open in the next couple of weeks and crank up the air conditioners, he said. The city normally buys electricity from other utilities but as demand and electric prices increase, the city cranks up its own power generators.
