POMONA – A fire that severely damaged the two-story farm house of Melvin and Sandi Edmonds in the 900 block of Rock Creek Road southeast of Pomona Tuesday afternoon was caused by a malfunction in kitchen wiring that overheated and set a wall on fire, said Alan Radcliffe, county fire marshal and assistant Pomona fire chief. The Edmonds discovered the fire and escaped from their burning house. They weren’t injured but three firefighters were, Radcliffe said. One firefighter injured his knee. Two others were overcome by the 100-degree heat and had to be treated at the scene. Four other rural fire departments and the Ottawa Fire Department sent firefighters to fight the blaze, he said. The house received severe fire damage, he said.
