OTTAWA — The Franklin County 911 emergency system was down briefly. The outage was traced to two blown fuses in the electrical network at the sheriff’s department, said Brad Gilges, 911 director. The 911 phone service was down for about five minutes before noon, emergency dispatch center radios and computers were out a little longer, he said. After the outage occurred, dispatchers alerted emergency agencies and started looking for alternatives, he said. Gilges said it’s the first time in the more than 20 years he’s been involved in emergency dispatching that he’s seen the 911 phone system go out.
