OTTAWA — After city finance officer Scott Bird tweaked the numbers, city commissioners voted Wednesday for a lease-purchase deal that would allow the city to buy a new street sweeper and two one-ton trucks over five years. Bird changed the deal so that the city could buy a mower and road painter outright. The biggest lease-purchase is a new $160,000 street sweeper. The city’s street sweeper is nearly worn out, Bird said. He said when it’s running, the sweeper will pick up nearly 90 tons of dirt and trash off city streets each month, he said.
