BURLINGAME–Students in the Burlingame schools got a little extra summer vacation after recent storms blew a crucial transformer behind the schools. The three-phase transformer blew out last Friday night when high winds hit high voltage lines. The replacement costs about $10,000. The new unit was installed by late Tuesday morning. During the power outage, the city brought in a generator to help fill some of the needs of the school, allowing them to keep the refrigerators and freezers on as well as other vital systems.
