OTTAWA — A new juvenile detention center would be built southwest of the existing Neosho County Community College building. Dan Rowe, of Treanor Architects gave a presentation of the new detention facility to county commissioners this morning. Rowe said a 14-bed facility would cost $4 million, including the cost of buying the Neosho campus. It is cheaper to build a new center at the Neosho campus rather than build next to the Elizabeth Layton Center, southwest of Ottawa. The existing building would be used for administrative offices for the sheriff’s department and other county departments.
