TOPEKA — A 34-year-old Topeka man will do nearly nine years in federal prison for carjacking. William Bell pleaded guilty to one count of carjacking occurring in January in Topeka. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Bell and another man got a ride from a Topeka man. They took his car, wallet and cellular phone before forcing him out of the car. The stolen car was recovered after two bank robbers used it in Kansas City. The robbers told officers they got the car from a man they didn’t know, Grissom said. Bell was arrested in Missouri carrying a key to the stolen car and the driver’s stolen wallet.
