LAWRENCE — Kansas University is mourning the death of KU dance and movement professor Janet Hamburg. Hamburg was killed Saturday as a result of a fall onto a construction platform in New York City. Originally trained as a civil engineer, Hamburg later received a master’s degree in dance and won an international reputation for pioneering the use of dancing and movement for those suffering from Parkinson’s disease, and for warmup exercises for athletes. The Janet Hamburg Dance Scholarship has been established in care of the KU Endowment Association.
