OTTAWA — Franklin County Mental Health’s Diane Drake said teens and young adults, adult males 50 and older are two of the fastest-growing groups of people at risk of committing suicide. The economic downturn has caused severe stress for many people who face the loss of their jobs, income and houses and has increased the risks for suicide, she said. It’s a matter of life and death for those people to seek help or at least talk to someone about their suicidal feelings, she said. The Franklin County Commission has proclaimed this week as Suicide Prevention Week.
