OTTAWA — The Ottawa city commissioners once again vote this morning on a request by Franklin County to expand the county construction and demolition landfill northeast of Ottawa. The city commission sent the request back to the city planning commission, who sent it back with their recommendation. City manager Richard Nienstedt said no one should read too much into the process or think there’s a dispute between the city and county. The city commissioners are doing their job and making sure all their questions are answered. Although the county owns the site and it’s outside the city limits, it is in the urban growth area. The city decides on planning and zoning matters in the area.
