BALDWIN JUNCTION — A head-on crash north of the Baldwin Junction closed U.S. 59 for a little more than two hours early this afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the highway has been reopened. Lori Pheigaru, 49, Topeka; was driving north on U.S. 59 when her car went across the center line on a curve, the highway patrol said. Her car smashed head-on into a pickup driven by 28-year-old Daniel Zirkle, 28, Burlingame. Pheigaru, Zirkle and a passenger in Zirkle’s truck, Andres Cardenas, 28, Tigard, Ore.; were injured. She was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. The two men were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
