GARNETT — There will be a party at Delton and Janice Hodgson’s house in Garnett tomorrow night. Their three children and grandchildren will arrive with carloads of goodies – and none of it for the Hodgsons. Those goodies will be sold during Garnett’s fall city-wide garage sale Saturday. Traditionially, the family stays up all night Friday getting ready for what has become one of the important stops for garage-salers since the Garnett fall tradition began in 1967. Janice Hodgson told the Anderson County Review that she admits the family is “a little nutso” when it comes to the city-wide garage sale. But she said they make a little money, get rid of unwanted belongings, meet people, and most of all, have a lot of fun. The Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors two city-wide garage sales each year. And if items don’t sell? The city of Garnett and Anderson County typically schedule free pickup of large items and free use of the county dump the week after the city-wide garage sale.
