OTTAWA — Ottawa Fire Department Lt. Shawn Dillon got a warm reception at a recent city commission meeting. Dillon was among several city employees receiving awards.
However, Dillon who recently returned from a Kansas National Guard peacekeeping mission in the Sinai in Egypt, and his family got extra thanks from city manager Richard Nienstedt for his service. Commissioners honored several city employees. Among them – Police officer Ryan Murphy earned the designation of drug recognition expert.
Police Lt. Adam Weingartner graduated from a leadership seminar conducted by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. City Commissioner Sara Humm and police officer James Kerns are members of this year’s Franklin County Leadership Class. nance clerk Debbie Lines completed two emergency management classes offered by the Department of Homeland Security. Kyle Long graduated from an electrical linesman program through Pratt Community College. City finance director Scott Bird received a master municipal clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
