GARNETT — City attorney Terry Solander said a proposal for pot-bellied pigs could give the city of Garnett a better way to regulate all types of animals in the city. Solander and Garnett resident Rose’ Holloway discussed the proposal to allow pot-bellied pigs as pets with city commissioners recently. City ordinances now prohibit swine inside the city. Changes would set up a permit system for exotic pets, including pot-bellied pigs, that goes beyond the city’s current rules for dogs and cats. However, Solander told the Anderson County Review he doesn’t expect a rush of families to add pot-bellied pigs as pets. Commissioners haven’t voted on the change but have expressed cautious support.
