OTTAWA — Several Ottawa area businesses and industries want to meet you. They’re holding the first-annual Community Expo 4-7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Washburn Towers. The Expo is intended to introduce community residents to jobs available, services available and retail products available in the Ottawa community, said Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce Tom Weigand. Representatives from Ottawa University, NCCC and Heartland Works of Topeka will be available to give tips on resume writing and interview techniques. Mock interviews will be conducted for those who would like to participate, he said. There are 30 businesses and organizations registered, ranging from Ransom Memorial Hospital, Midwest Cabinet, American Eagle Outfitters, several banks, churches, employment agencies, apartment managers and several retailers plus many other business ventures, he said. “This Expo is to encourage working locally, shopping locally and using local service companies whenever possible,” Weigand said. There will be hors de oeuvres and soft drinks available.
