LAWRENCE — Douglas County authorities have found a woman in a car at the bottom of Clinton Lake. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that an underwater search team recovered the woman’s body from the car about 175 feet offshore of Boat Ramp No. 1 Wednesday afternoon. The paper reports that although the Douglas County Sheriff’s office doesn’t have a positive identification of the woman, they have alerted the family of a missing woman. KOFO has been told by family friends that the missing woman could be former Ottawan Lesley Smith, 38, who has been missing six years.
