Missing Girl Found Safe in Wilson County
Today, at 8:40 a.m. Ottawa police responded to Ottawa High School to investigate the
report of a missing student. Police received information that a 15 year-old female student
left the school voluntarily with an unknown adult man. A short time later, police learned
that the girl was in Wilson County, Kansas and was no longer with the man. She was
found by Wilson County Sheriffs Deputies and is safe.
Police receive information that the suspect was driving a vehicle near Greely, Kansas in
Anderson County. The vehicle was located in a field near the Anderson County and
Franklin County line north of Greely, Kansas. A ground and air search followed in an
attempt to locate the man. The search was conducted by the Ottawa Police Department,
Franklin County Sheriffs Office, Anderson County Sheriffs Office, Kansas Highway
Patrol, Garnett Police Department, and the Miami County Sheriffs Office. The man was
sighted near Greely, but was not found after several hours, and the search was suspended.
The suspect was described as a black, male, approximately 39-years-old, 6 ft, 230 lbs.
wearing a white t-shirt.
Wilson County law enforcement officials are investigating the report of a sex offense
from the student that occurred in Wilson County, Kansas. The Ottawa Police Department
continues to assist Wilson County with this investigation.
Additional information regarding possible charges and the identity of the suspect must be
