OTTAWA — With no forecasts of rain and warm and windy days, Franklin County farmers are running flat out to bring in the last of their corn and get started on harvesting soybeans. Aided by dry fields, the county’s corn harvest is about done, said Frontier Extension District agriculture and natural resources agent Darren Hibdon. Producers will likely start cutting soybeans this week, he said. The soybean harvest will take longer, he said. Some beans are ready for cutting but later-planted plants are still green, he said. Soybeans are the most important fall cash crop.
