MANHATTAN — For many areas in the state, this week may be Indian summer. There may be several names for Indian summer , especially in Europe, where it’s called All-Hallows summer, Second Summer, Mid-wives Summer and even “God’s Gift to Poland,” but state climatologist Mary Knapp says the hallmark of this phenomenon is the same – a string of warm, dry days and cool nights following an autumn freeze.
