LENEXA – A Paola woman was taken to Olathe Medical Center as a result of a two-vehicle accident on eastbound I-435 in Lenexa Tuesday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Billie Lay, 68, Paola, was driving a utility truck east on I-435 at Lackman Road in Lenexa when she tried to changed lanes. She struck the side of a car driven by Tamara Shields, 30, Grain Valley, Mo., who was also driving east. Lay’s truck slid sideways, hit a guard rail and overturned in a ditch. Troopers said she wasn’t wearing a seat belt. Shields was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured.
