OTTAWA — Closing arguments are scheduled Friday morning in the case of Roger Shaw of Wellsville.  Shaw is charged in Franklin County District Court with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol in the traffic death of 21-year-old motorcyclist Aaron Kichler of Ottawa.  Shaw’s pickup truck collided with Kichler’s cycle in July 2009 on a county road near Wellsville.  In testimony this afternoon, Shaw’s defense attorneys put on the stand a witness who is an expert in accident reconstruction. The witness….John Glennon …testified that Kichler’s motorcyle was traveling at 92 miles an hour in the seconds before the accident.   His testimony contradicts that of Steve McKinzie, an accident reconstruction expert testifying for prosecutors, who said that Kichler was driving at slightly below the 55-mile-an-hour speed limit on Shawnee road when he hit Shaw’s truck at Texas road.  In a contentious cross-examination, County Attorney Heather Jones sharply questioned Glennon’s methods of evidence in arriving at his conclusions.  The court is scheduled to reconvene at 10 Friday morning for jury instructions and closing arguments… after that the case will go to the jury.
