LYNDON — A preliminary hearing for James Kraig Kahler has been postponed until Dec. 21-22 in Osage County District Court. Kahler has been charged with the murders of four of his family members over the Thanksgiving weekend last year in Burlingame. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that a key attorney in Kahler’s defense team has resigned. Her former legal firm says it needs more time to bring another attorney into the defense team. Kahler faces four counts of capital murder of his estranged wife Karen Kahler, his two teenage daughters Emily and Lauren, and Karen Kahler’s grandmother Dorothy Wight. Kahler’s son survived. The murder victims were visiting Wight’s home for Thanksgiving.
