OTTAWA — They’re young. They’re in love. They’re in the Franklin County Jail. A cross-country odyssey of a flight club made up of two young adults and two teens from Oklahoma went like clockwork until they reached Ottawa and they ended up in orange.
Ottawa Police Lt. Adam Weingartner said the group are suspects in a series of burglaries and thefts ranging from Medicine Lodge to Ottawa. They are believed to be a group involved in a high-speed chase in Pratt where they eluded police. They’re also suspects in Wednesday’s burglaries of the Taylor Brothers Construction and H.R. Block in southern Ottawa, he said. They’ll stay in jail until the various police agencies work out their cases and decide who gets them first, Weingartner said. Kevin Henry, 21, Minden, Neb., is being held on suspicion of possessing stolen property worth more than $100,000 and contributing to the misconduct of a minor. Amanda Rice, 18, Duncan, Okla., is being held on suspicion of possessing stolen property worth less than $1,000 and contributing to the misconduct of a minor.
