WASHINGTON — With bed bugs on the march across the country, check with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency before you resort to chemical warfare. The EPA has a new database listing the more than 300 pesticides registered for gassing the little crawlies without gassing yourself. The EPA’s Steve Owens said the new search tool will let you choose a bed bug killer that will be safe while working at maximum effectiveness. You should use a stategy that includes being on the look-out, and non-chemical control methods, as well as registered pesticides, he said. Search the bedbug pesticides database at WWW.EPA.GOV/BEDBUGS/PRODUCTSEARCH.
