OLATHE — A former Johnson County stockbroker has pleaded guilty to six felony crimes. Devon Carlson, a former stock broker for Waddell & Reed, admitted in Johnson County District Court that he stole more than $235,000 from six clients in a series of transactions lasting over two years. Kansas securities commissioner Marc Wilson said Carlson forged his clients’ signatures to liquidate securities and sent the money to a company controlled by Carlson. Wilson said that to avoid detection by Waddell & Reed, Carlson sent the company checks to his neighbors then took the checks their mailboxes without their knowledge. Waddell & Reed repaid the investors. Carlson must reimburse the company. Sentencing is Jan. 6.
