LAWRENCE — A memorial service for a former Ottawa resident who was found in Clinton Lake after she was missing six years has been set for Saturday afternoon. A celebration of life for Lesley Smith will be Saturday afternoon at 3 at the Lawrence Eagles Lodge. Smith’s body was found in a mini-van in the lake last month. She had disappeared from her Lawrence home in January 2004. Her mini-van was found by state park rangers who were trying out a new sideway sonar system. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1984. Survivors include her mother, Marilyn Anderson of Lawrence; and her father, Jack Smith of Ottawa. Memorials have been established in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society, or the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Ottawa, in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence.
