OTTAWA — Ottawa High School senior Zach George has been elected mayor of the Ottawa Youth in Government program. Junior Jordan Gray is mayor pro-tem. Eighth grader Spencer Morgan is clerk. Junior Danon Taylor is project manager. Students who were appointed to specific boards and commissions to serve as the voice of their peers include: Ottawa City Commission – Courtney Evans and Spencer Morgan. USD 290 school board – Danon Taylor. Ottawa Recreation Commission – Ty Lutz and Gabby Bowers. Ottawa Library board – Dalton Blankinship. Chamber of Commerce Legislative Action Committee – Zach George. Ottawa Main Street Association – Jordan Gray. Ottawa’s Youth in Government program is a nationally-recognized program that engages students in grades 8 through 12 in hands-on civic engagement and leadership development.
