OSAWATOMIE — An Osawatomie teacher missed the Kansas City Marathon for the second straight year. The Osawatomie Journal reported that both this year and last year, Kristen McBride of Trojan Elementary School injured her knee in the 18th mile of a practice marathon. Her knee has healed and she’s started running again to prepare for next year’s marathon. She said she’ll be in Kansas City for the marathon next year. If the 18-mile curse strikes again, she jokes that she’ll crawl across the finish line.
