OSAGE CITY–A former Osage City Council member pleads guilty to three counts of child pornography last week in U.S. District Court. Jason Croucher, 27 of Osage City, pleaded guilty to two counts of receiving or distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography on October 13th. Croucher admitted that the crimes occurred on May 11th, 14th, and June 22nd, 2009. What led to Croucher’s arrest was that FBI agents in San Diego were investigating an invitation-only file sharing service, when an IP address was tracked to Croucher’s address. In June 2009, the FBI searched Croucher’s computer and found evidence to support the charge of possession of child pornography. He was arrested and charged on June 4th, 2010. Sentencing is set for December 20th. Croucher faces a penalty of no less than five years and no more than 20 years and a fine up to $250,000 on each count of receiving and distributing child pornography. Croucher resigned as a member of the Osage City Council on July 21st, 2009 without giving a reason. He was elected to the position in April 2007.
