OSAWATOMIE — Osawatomie High School students put down their I-Pods and cell phones and grabbed rakes and paint brushes recently. They spent four hours of community service doing odd jobs, cleaning lawns, painting and even building a walking path at the Osawatomie Public Library. Osawatomie principal Doug Chisam told the Osawatomie Journal that the school teaches students about the importance of character and serving the community and the community service day is part of that lesson. Students worked at many homes and around the high school and went to the Life Care Center, the John Brown History Museum and Vintage Park.
