EMPORIA — The Jones Institute for Educational Excellence at Emporia State University has hired a math teaching expert and a reading teaching expert. Carrie Davis will oversee a three-year federal $165,000 mathematics and science partnership grant. Davis will provide math resources and support for rural teachers in seven rural school districts including West Franklin, Marais des Cygnes Valley and Lebo-Waverly. Annie Opat is the new director of Emporia State’s Reading Recovery Training Center.
