OTTAWA–Two Ottawa men charged in a stabbing death last summer will stand trial separately. In a court hearing this week, a prosecution motion to have the case consolidated and only have one trial was denied. A pre-trial conference for John Balbirnie and Brandon Ellsmore will be held December 13 at 9:30. Trial dates are expected to be set at that time. Both men are charged with the July stabbing death of Paul Nicholson of Ottawa.
