GARNETT — New Anderson County engineer Paul Moss has a couple of new titles – sanitarian and zoning director. To save money, the county commission decided not to replace outgoing zoning director Tom Young. Instead, they’ll have Moss’s office take over the duties of the county zoning office. Engineering secretary Michelle Miller has been designated zoning deputy and will handle planning and zoning issues. Moss will be the sanitarian and will inspect septic and wastewater systems. Moss told the Anderson County Review that the new arrangement is temporary and shouldn’t interfere with the office’s regular duties. The city of Garnett has expressed some interest in combining some city and county planning duties and that could be discussed this month.
