OVERLAND PARK — State senator Jeff Colyer of Overland Ppark said he’ll step down because he’ll get a new gig – that being lieutenant governor to Gov.-elect Sam Brownback. He’ll resign from the senate Jan. 10. Colyer endorsed fellow Johnson County conservative legislator Ray Merrick, R-Stillwell, to fill his vacated state senate seat. Merrick is House Majority Leader.
