OTTAWA — Ottawa High School students are showing up for school and absenteeism is down, according to an administrative study, said Supt. Dean Katt. Administrators have launched policies designed to cut absenteeism, which could be having an effect, he said.. He said another reason could be the board’s decision to end block scheduling as a cost-cutting measure. Block scheduling was similar to a college schedule but by going to the more tradition same-class-every-day schedule may be reminding students about showing every day, he said.
