COLONY — For the city of Colony it’s been another brick from the wall – and another and another. Two years ago, the city bought two dilapidated downtown buildings in hopes of snagging a grant to convert them into a community center. However, the Anderson County Review reports that the buildings were in such bad shape, the city couldn’t get a grant to renovate them. The city decided to demolish them. The city has been working carefully because one of the buildings shares a common wall with one of the town’s Few remaining businesses, Colony Foods. The city hopes to use bricks from the buildings to build a Brick Memory Sidewalk to be featured in downtown park at the site of the two buildings after their demolition. Bricks can be purchased and engraved at a minimum cost of $30. Contact the Colony City Hall at (620) 852-3530 or
